Influenced by French pedagogue Philippe Gaulier, Kristine’s intracultural approach focuses on utilizing the cultural context of the performer engaging with all the aspects of one’s personality and bringing that to the stage. This tried and tested methodology empowers actors and theatre makers to work with difference rather from a starting point of neutrality. The practice has received acclaim for its ability to position the actor as an integral part of building a character.

The aim of the working group is to research, promote and disseminate contemporary Asian performance and diaspora studies to highlight the historical and contemporary scholarship in the area. We also aim to encourage critical debates on the contemporary artistic practices of Asia and a thorough re-evaluation of the current understanding of its conceptual and practical paradigms of the Asian performance scene and its diaspora in Britain.
