How Do I Find The Words, 2025
How Do I Find the Words is a community interest project that I conceived and delivered in collaboration With Bristol Old Vic Theatre, Nottingham Playhouse and Bolton Octagon. In each venue we worked with one of their participating community groups to make and present a headphone verbatim theatre work about words : It was built from the voices of people in our communities through real-life interviews and celebrated the stories behind the words that shape who we are - the words that help, heal, hurt, and hold meaning. Participants learnt how to interview, how to recognise an edit and the performance practice required to deliver the work. Many participants began timidly and hesitantly but during the course of the project developed their skills set so that each one of them is now fully equipped to make and deliver their own headphone work. Performances in each venue were thrilling and I think the photographs tell that story!
I worked with a team of highly skilled practitioners to deliver the project and they were : Oliver Carruthers, Olivia Nielsen, Neela Dolezalova, Eva Auster, Felix Cross, Alison Johnstone, Freddie Machin, Poppy Clifford and Camilla Adams. A real privilege for me to have worked with the dream team.
