In 2013 I was invited by the then CEO Lynne Williams to come to NIDA as Senior Lecturer in Acting to lead with my intracultural theatre practice and also to look at diversity across the whole school. This was a very unusual, bold and innovative invitation from Lynne and she was good to her word and allowed me to lead with a practice which plays with difference. As I worked consistently with this practice over three years with student groups I began to see an equity emerging for every student and many students who had not taken a centre stage position before were enabled to do so with a growing confidence. It was a rare opportunity and one that I will always be grateful for.
More recently in 2025 I was given the opportunity to utilise my intracultural theatre practice at FONACT in Fontainebleau, France. This small but innovative school was set up by Laurent de Montalembert to mirror his own training at Guildhall School of Speech and Drama. He and Head of Programming and Practice, Grace Andrews work energetically, thoughtfully and tirelessly to provide a contemporary programme and pedagogy that serves the international body of students very well. It was my absolute pleasure to direct Oedipus The Visionary by David Greig for their international ensemble and I hope to make further contributions to their excellent programme in the future.
